Lately, my art and research practice has focused on reCAPTCHA images.

I’m thinking about reCAPTCHA's relationship to the history of American landscape and early color photography; ideas of labor and transaction; and the changing meanings and markers of humanity on the Internet.

I recently gave a talk on all of this as part of the Fiber & Material Studies Graduate Noon Hour Lecture Series. It’s about 45 minutes long and synthesizes many of these ideas. Here is a video if you’re interested in watching it!
